Alison Brie uses CBD oil to help her recover after intense training

Alison Brie relies on CBD oil and Epsom salt baths to help her recover from intense workouts.

The 36-year-old is currently starring as Ruth ‘Zoya the Destroya’ Wilder in the hit Netflix female wrestling series GLOW – her most physically demanding role to date.

“Since starting work on GLOW, I’ve taken to thinking of myself more as an athlete than an actor,” she told MBG Movement magazine. “We train a lot for the show, and some of the wrestling moves we do are really hard on our bodies.”

To help rest and repair her sore muscles, the actress uses CBD oil regularly after being introduced to it by one of the on-set medics.

“I like to put a few drops in my morning tea and let it infuse into my system that way,” Brie shared, before insisting that it has aided her recovery time.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a popular natural remedy derived from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. The Mad Men star recently teamed up with hemp brand Manitoba Harvest to release their new line of Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract CBD Oil Drops.

And after three seasons on GLOW, Brie has had to change her workouts with celebrity trainer Jason Walsh at Rise Movement in Los Angeles to include more strength training.

“I had watched other actors come in and train for roles, like Emily Blunt and Matt Damon, and that was always exciting for me. So, when I booked GLOW, I was like ‘It’s time! Let’s get after it!'” she laughed.

Now, her workout routine includes deadlifts, pull-ups, and hip-thrusts, but nothing can prepare Brie for the high-intensity workout she gets while wrestling during filming.

“When we first started doing it, it was kind of a shock. Nobody hesitated or refused to do a move. It became a great group effort. All of us were inspiring and supporting one another, which made it easy to try things that were really scary,” she said of her co-stars, including Kate Nash and Betty Gilpin. “Although there are days I think, ‘Will I ever not be sore again?'”
